Goodreads Summary:

Ryan lowers his lips to my ear. "Dance with me, Beth."

"No." I whisper the reply. I hate him and I hate myself for wanting him to touch me again....

"I dare you..."

If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk's home life, they'd send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mom at all costs. Until the day her uncle swoops in and forces Beth to choose between her mom's freedom and her own happiness. That's how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn't want her and going to a school that doesn't understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn't get her, but does....

Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock-with secrets he can't tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the Skater girl who couldn't be less interested in him.

But what begins as a dare becomes an intense attraction neither Ryan nor Beth expected. Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image risks his dreams-and his life-for the girl he loves, and the girl who won't let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all....

Cover Reveals: Shadowlark, Endure, Uninvited, and Champion

So sorry! This post was supposed to go up this morning, but apparently the post either unscheduled itself or I accidentally didn't schedule it! SORRY for any confusion :/

Shadowlark (Skylark #2) by Meagan Spooner
Release Date: October 1st, 2013
Publisher: Carolrhoda Lab
Shadowlark (Skylark, #2)

I haven't yet read Skylark, but it is on my TBR list!
I really like the shade of geen used in this cover, but I'm not exactly sure if it's supposed to be a spaceship, tunnel, or mine kind of area. Anyone know what it is?
Endure by M.R Merrick
Release Date: June 5th 2013
Endure (The Protector, #4)

THIS COVER TOTALLY REMINDS ME OF THE ROBERT FROST POEM!!
"Two roads diverged in a yellow wood"
Except its technically not a yellow wood, but that's not important.
Also love the whole "bad things are happening" vibe the cover's giving.

Uninvited by Sophie Jordan
Release Date:  March 2014
Publisher: HarperTeen
Uninvited (Uninvited, #1)

Ummmm another Sophie Jordan novel also published by HarperTeen?
YES PLEASE!!! Love how the ends of her hair are turned into the double helix!
Not many sci-fi covers include sciency kind of things that relate to their books.

Champion by Maire Lu
Release Date: November 5th, 2013
Publisher: Putnam Juvenile
Champion (Legend, #3)
ADD TO GOODREADS

This is a WICKED cover!! Lovin the whole bleeding/sketched rose idea!

Review: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
332 pages
Release Date: August 16th, 2007
Publisher: Razorbill
Genre: Paranormal, Romance
Level: YA
Source: A random midnight search through Barnes and Noble.com
Rating: 4.7 STARS

Goodreads Summary:

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

MY THOUGHTS:
Vampire Academy. This. It sounds terrible, trust me I know it does. I mean come on, seriously what kind of title is Vampire Academy? But no this book FAR surpasses its terrible name and all of my expectations for it. I have to confess: although I did buy this book before, I did not read it till after I had read the first two books of the Bloodlines Series (also by Richelle Mead). I do not recommend this. Read Vampire Academy first, its worth it.

Now lets get down to it: I LOVE this book. The characters are amazing and strong and just kick-ass. The plot is (at least romantic part) a biting-your-nails-while-your-emotions-are-stabbed-slowly-to-death (in a good way...yeah that might have come out wrong...oh well). It is just flippin spectacular. AH! Back on topic! So basically there are two types of vampires: Moroi and Strigoi. Moroi can control elemental magic and drink blood but do not kill, while Strigoi do not have magic and do kill, oh and they are also super fast and strong not to mention immortal. The main character, Rose is a Dhampir: half Moroi and half human. They can be created by either a human and a Moroi or another Dhampir and a Moroi but not Dhampir and Dhampir. Dhampirs only have two choices in life: become a guardian and protect Moroi or become a blood whore and live free but disgraced. Rose chose neither. Circumstances forced her to make the decision to take the Moroi she is bonded to,Lissa, (they are special no one else is bonded like them, basically Rose can see into Lissa's mind) away from their school so she could be safe. For two years it worked. Till Dimitri came to town (figuratively) XD

AAAAHHHH DIMITRI!!!!!!! He is a sexy Russian warlord who is just magical and amazing. The ice to Rose's fire and the balm to her burn. And he always pushes her to be her best and be a better person like he knows she can be. He is just: no words. Just. Meh. Nah. *dies in a puddle of feeling* And Rose!!! She is so snarky and witty and unlike most main characters actually sees her flaws and tries to fix them(you know...eventually) and she so noble! She is always thinking about the good of Lissa!

Lissa is wonderful too. She's always worrying about Rose and is so kind and caring. She is sweet and just amazing in her own Lissa way. Her and Rose's relationship is really just the most peculiar thing. They both want the other to be safe and happy. Rose is Lissa rock, her anchor who is always there when she needs Rose most. And Lissa is Rose's anchor too although in a very different way, for Rose Lissa reminds her what she is protecting, all the good and kindness, and also a reminder that she can be better too.

JUST READ IT!!!!!!!!! Its so wonderful and packed full of mystery and action and romance and just lots of really really cool shit.

The Quill Awards

      Inline image 1

Okay so I'm slightly(extremely) excited about this. I just read the Nominees Page and honest to God squealed a couple of times.  HA now that you're confused I'll explain what it is. Basically the Quill Awards are the Grammys or Oscars but for YA fiction. I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED AND IN TO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!! It is a really great way to appreciate our favorite authors, characters, and books.

"It is really a new type of award show exclusively to celebrate the last year in YA fiction. It will boast all aspects of  traditional award show: awkward banter, fancy clothes, signature statuettes, and all other attributes we both love and mock. What makes this "new" is that this award show will not take place at some fancy venue, but rather it will be filmed at multiple dates in multiple locations, and then edited to form one cohesive show.
You can expect appearances from many amazing bloggers and authors, as well as some industry professionals  and (maybe) some special guest entertainers. The show will air in late June or early July at a date to be determined."-Britta

If you want to learn more or help out in any way possible the creators would love to here about it! (me and Taherah are trying to help as much as we can) Any one whose part of the YA community can help! (bloggers, vloggers, authors, publishers, or just readers) Click HERE to sign up!
