OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS BOOK! YOU DONT EVEN KNOW I JUST FINISHED IT AND JUST AH! EMOTIONS! OH MY GOD! But seriously Sherry Thomas is amazing I was completely captivated by the very first page. Not even the first page of the first chapter, the preface here read a little of it: "This is the story of a girl who fooled a thousand boys, a boy who fooled an entire country, a partnership that would change the fate of realms, and a power to challenge the greatest tyrant the world had ever known. Expect magic." ISNT THAT FRICKIN AMAZING! And the characters! UGH they are just so cool and awesome and the story is so entertaining and funny and suspenseful. The Burning Sky is an amazing fantasy book that combines a fantasy realm with the real world of the 1800s and is so cool! Its just super awesome and I loved it. A lot. AND THERES MAGIC! And not mainstream magic either, like cool clever amazingly awesome magic.
Lets start with Titus. THIS BOY! I don't even know, okay. He's just so amazing and smart and brave and honorable and he does all these amazing wonderful things and no one knows it because...reasons. But he's just so cool and he acts like this arrogant prick when in reality he is so sweet and adorable and amazing and quirky and...where was I going with this?....OH RIGHT! The only time I ever truly disliked him was in the first instance in his POV but then at about the second time you are in his head you see how awesome he is and it makes his arrogant prick fakeness seem really funny and just kinda amazing. I also like how Titus and Iolanthe don't lie to each other and how their romance is there...but it isn't. Like they still have to go on with their daily lives and such but they are totally in love but can't admit it and there (sorry spoiler-ish) is never like a scene where they forget all their worries and just be together because thats not who they are the story wouldn't allow for it either way. And Titus is awesome and amazing and I don't how I got on with life before knowing him. (Is that creepy? I feel like its creepy)
ANYHOO! Now Iolanthe who shall henceforth be referred to as Fairfax because thats what she is referred to in the majority of the book and its just sooooo much easier to spell. SHE IS SO EPIC AND AWESOME OMG! She is an elemental mage and thats exactly what it sounds like and she is badass at it too. I don't really know how else to describe her because she really just embodies the words epic and strong. She totally pulls off being a boy like 10000% and I just think she so kick ass. She can fight and is witty and doesn't let anyone push her around and thats the bomb. I love her. She is extraordinary in every way and I don't know what else to say because she's just amazing. Thats it. End of story. Really though she is really fucking awesome.
Fairfax and Titus make such an amazing duo, both are so strong and powerful but in different ways that just mesh and work together perfectly. The Burning Sky is so amazing and sad (ish) and epic and wonderful and awesome. It manages to take place in a way that although the world is not completely and totally explained in full, irritating amounts of detail there is still a very clear picture of what the world is and how wonderfully spectacular it is. I am so frickin happy this book is part of a series. I would have died otherwise. I really think everyone should read it even if they don't like fantasy all that much because this book is awesome....I'm assuming your all gone now to read the book....cuzz its really REALLY amazing. Wow, I need a different word than amazing.... *thinks about book., squeals and fangirls a little then dies*
Oh wow I didn't like The Burning Sky as much as you did, but I love your enthusiasm! I have so much love for Titus. I loved how complex his world is and the poor guy couldn't be honest with anybody except Iolainthe. So tragic.
