The Thing About Books: Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Hey guys! Caitlyn thought of this awesome idea of a book discussion of a sort/joint review we should do every week. On Twitter as some of you people know I asked which post title you guys liked the best but "The Thing about the Books" and "The Truth about Books" got tied. So I decided that since we were both going to take turn transcribing our GChat into a post anyways, and since I came up with The Thing About Books and she came up with The Truth About Books we would just change the title whenever that person would post it!

This week will be our first book discussion/joint review which is not the best but we tried!
And sorry in advance if we went off track in some parts of this!!

And sweet...well when he wants to be. Super protective but thats one of his finest qualities

Its really nice how protective he is of Dee (although at times when it comes to dealing with Katy he gets SUPER irritating) there relationship is so cute! Like in the ice cream scene (is that obsidian??) where he eats all of Dee's ice cream and she gets all pissy but when she goes out to buy more he kisses her on the cheek and she smiles back at him *heart*

AWWWW I think so it might have been Onyx though...But yeah Dee is awesome and she has a hilarious relationship with Daemon

Oh! and then his relationship with Katy!! I love how Lesa describes it "Of course, because you guys have this fiery passion that explodes, and he couldn't take the heat."

Lol yeah! Then the note incident where Katy admitted that Daemon was hot XD

OH that was the best!!!! Although sometimes it got annoying when Daemon would back off all of a sudden and get super mad. Its like, no admit you like her and live with it!

I think both Katy and Daemon were both irritating with confronting their feelings for each other

Yes but at least katy had a legit reason (you know at first..)

It was bad but I love how Dee always was okay with it (except for the talking about it part, because I mean.... he's her brother..)

Yeah and she was a great friend to Katy even though she wasn't supposed to talk to her

It was awesome how they bonded over gardening!!

Did Katy continue to garden in book 2 or 3?

....I don't think she did...because book 2 was winter.... idk about book 3 though.... OMG AND SHE'S A BLOGGER HOLY CRAP LOVE

It made me feel so much more connected to her!! I mean she would freak out about getting new books in the mail and said she would give up her first born child for a chance to go to BEA (or was it ALA??? oh well...)

Obsidian's plot was actually pretty simple and kind of predictable in my opinion

You know I never really thought about that before, I was always so happily distracted by the characters that I never took the time to even really think about the plot let alone the simplicity of it.

Yeah but I do think that JLA is making the overall series plot much more complicated

I think Origin is going to be more of the series climax kinda book

Oh god I hope so, Obsidian.....I think its a good first book. Its not so unpredictable and intense as the others and really just lets you get to know the characters and get you emotionally invested in them and in their story and then......well then everything goes to shits (and gets a whole lot better at the same time *cough cough* Daemon and Katy *cough cough*) and gets a lot more intense.

She said that since Origin is when everything changes and is the start to the whole big kabam the cover showed Daemons intensity and and stuff (mostly because of Katy but still)

I think that when she gets locked up she sees their real motive or sees who really is the enemy or something like that that may put her and Daemon in opposite sides...IT'S BAD

Katy's voice seems so realistic. I really feel like there is a real teenage Katy out there with a Daemon ( and damn if I didn't wish I were her) She is so sarcastic and spaz-tastic I want to be her friend.

I love how she always holds her own against him when they are arguing. She never lets him get under her skin (and when she does she doesn't let it affect her....outwardly) and she is always ready with a witty comeback

It was very refreshing. ALSO IT WASNT LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT/FIRST WEEK!!!!!!! I mean it was lust at first sight (obviously come on, look at Daemon) but it took MONTHS of flirting and a couple of uh..... situations *cough* make-out sessions *cough* for them to start realizing they wanted to be together and they actually liked each other not just liked pissing each other off (which they both enjoy GREATLY)

Our convo did kind of end abruptly and I hope to change that next time!
