Goodreads Summary:
The summer of her dreams is about to get a reality check.

They said it couldn't be done, but geeky sophomore Lauren Carlson transformed herself into a popular girl after moving to a new school halfway across the country. Amazing what losing her braces and going out for cheerleading will do. Only trouble is, the popular crowd is wearing on Lauren's nerves and she can't wait to return to summer camp where she's valued for her brain instead of her handsprings. She misses her old friends and most of all, her long time camp-only boyfriend, Seth. This year she intends to upgrade their relationship to year-round status once she's broken up with her new, jock boyfriend, Matt. He doesn't even begin to know the real her, a girl fascinated by the night sky who dreams of discovering new planets and galaxies.

But Matt isn't giving her up without a fight. As he makes his case to stay together, Lauren begins to realize his feelings run deeper than she ever would have guessed. What if the guy she thought she was meant to be with forever isn't really The One? Returning to Camp Juniper Point was supposed to ground her uprooted life, but she's more adrift than ever. Everything feels different and soon Lauren's friends are turning on her and both guys question what she really wants. As summer tensions escalate, Lauren wonders if she's changed more than she thought. Will her first big discovery be herself?

MY THOUGHTS:
J.K Rock blew me away with Camp Boyfriend! It's a fun novel that's the perfect summer read!! Camp Boyfriend is really more of a story of finding yourself, friendship, and it really taught me to not judge by looks. J.K Rock is did an awesome job trying to relate to teens and their perspective in society itself. I actually didn't expect for this story to make me say, "Huh..I've never thought of it that way." But it did and I'm glad!

Lauren is a character I could relate to especially with her middle ground situations and decision making skills. The whole time my feelings about Seth or Matt basically reflected what Lauren felt and I completely agreed with her when she thought why I can't do both or be in the middle. Never hating and enough liking to be on middle ground. Lauren's super sweet and definitely tries to do her best pleasing everyone even if that doesn't work out too well with her. The only thing I had a problem with was that I did hope to see her single for a longer period of time just to finger things out but I do why that didn't occur. I did hold a grudge against some of Lauren's friends especially with the way they treated her and how they didn't try to understand her reasons through. Camp Boyfriend out did itself when it came to showing how Lauren dealt with it and just the way people changed and people's reactions to the change.

Ahhh now for the romance of it all!! This shall be so hard writing without spoilers but I tried my best!! SNICKERDOODLES (AKA my replacment curse word)! Matt and Seth are both guys I loved and totally approve of for well anyone ;P My head is spinning from everything that went on with them. I will however say that I absolutely adored the ending and I'm so happy with who she ended up with!! Matt is one of the characters who I definitely saw the most character development in and was the character that really did the job of finding himself in Camp Juniper. Seth is the character I would describe as the mysterious one. We didn't see him as much as I thought I would and would have liked to. My feelings were all over the place when reading this book! At different points I would love Matt then when she was with Seth I would love him. It was so confusing and I didn't even know who I liked the best until this little scene that had me think SHIPSHIPSHIP

I enjoyed Camp Boyfriend and I'm thrilled to read Camp Payback!! J.K Rock did an awesome job writing this story and I hope to read more of their writing!! Camp Boyfriend is for all you contemporary readers or those just looking for a nice, light, fun, summer read about friendship, family, guys, and just how camp is in general!! Happy Readings!!
