Goodreads Summary:

In this sequel to the bestselling fantasy thriller, Angelfall, the survivors of the angel apocalypse begin to scrape back together what's left of the modern world.

When a group of people capture Penryn's sister Paige, thinking she's a monster, the situation ends in a massacre. Paige disappears. Humans are terrified. Mom is heartbroken.

Penryn drives through the streets of San Francisco looking for Paige. Why are the streets so empty? Where is everybody? Her search leads her into the heart of the angels' secret plans where she catches a glimpse of their motivations, and learns the horrifying extent to which the angels are willing to go.

Meanwhile, Raffe hunts for his wings. Without them, he can't rejoin the angels, can't take his rightful place as one of their leaders. When faced with recapturing his wings or helping Penryn survive, which will he choose?

MY THOUGHTS:

Just to be clear this is the second book in the series (the first being Angelfall, which I also did a review on so if you want go check that out) Guys, I had no idea this series was so long! Its going to have 5 books! I thought it was just going to be a trilogy but I am so happy! More Penryn and Raffe! I really really REALLY want them to defy all odds and figure out a way to be together despite everything against them. Maybe Penryn can become an angel? Or Raffe becomes human? No, but I love Raffe the angel. Is it weird that I'm just as sad about Raffe not having his beautiful wings as I am about him not still being with Penryn for like 70% of the book?

Oh! But don't worry! Penryn badassery totally makes up for it! She really blossoms and you can see how amazing and tough and great she is outside of working with Raffe. And its really great because she becomes a sort of hero even though she denies it thats kinda what she is. She's not perfect and is basically (obviously) in love with an angel who looks like a demon and helped kill most of the humans but she does help people with every chance she gets. Even (especially) when she knows its going to blow up in her face. And she still feels like she has to protect her mom and Paige and Clara (who's this other person you'll meet).

Paige plays a much bigger role than I thought she would. I mean sure she's Penryn's motivation for living but she also becomes really cool and great in her own respect. OH and we find out kind of what happens to her and she forms an...interesting relationship. OH AND SHE DOES THIS THING AT THE END THAT I JUST LOVE. But anyways. Their mom is still super crazy but...she's growing on me. You can really see when Penryn gets her insane badass skills (besides all the fighting lessons and stuff).  But in a way their mother/daughter roles are kinda switched. When they're with the Resistance it seems like Penryn is more of a mother towards Paige and their mom. We don't see a lot of Raffe but when we do *grins* well its great. It just, it really is. (oh and I totally forgot he thought she was dead...oops :D) BUT we get this cool sword thing that gives us some Raffe's  POV from the first book and ITS REALLY COOL AND SWEET!

I really really enjoyed this book, its just as good as Angelfall, maybe better. (I'm not sure cuzz I read Angelfall a while ago) If you read Angelfall and haven't checked this out yet you definitely should. There isn't as much Raffe but its ok and World After is overall just a really great book.
